Appearance:

Nico is on the skinny side and has very pale skin. This is extenuated by his black hair and tendency to wear lots of black clothing. He also wears a silver skull ring given to him by his father, Hades. He also usually has his Stygian Iron sword attached on a chain belt.

One of Nico's most striking features is his eyes, which are almost colourless. Being stared at by Nico is enough to scare even the god, Apollo (even if he was in a mortal body at the time). Even when he isn't looking at you, Nico can give off an aura of menace.

Personality: In many ways, Nico is a fairly typical teenager: often sullen, prone to mood swings, and quite sarcastic. However, given his demigod powers, which are quite strong due to his father being one of the "big three," Nico is far from ordinary. He has trouble with social interactions and feels like people reject him, though others have tried to convince him that often he's the one pushing people away. Because of this, he has trouble feeling like he belongs somewhere, though recently he has begun to think of Camp Half-Blood as his home. This often causes violent outbursts of emotions, which can be quite dangerous as these often trigger his demigod powers, causing those around him, friend and foe, to be fearful of him. These outbursts usually happens when something that he has internalized for a long time builds up to the point where he can no longer hold it in. Nico is also prone to holding grudges, as are most children of Hades.

When he is in control of his emotions, Nico tends to be a brooder. After Bianca's death, he decided to put aside all childish behavior, which has led to him having an intensity that makes people nervous. He also is often very sarcastic, even when dealing with his father. Finally, he likes to feel in control of his situation and not knowing things makes him very irritable. When he's irritated, or otherwise agitated, he starts to fiddle with the silver skull ring he always wears, which Bianca gave to him before she died.

Growing up in the 1940s, Nico learned to be ashamed of his homosexuality. He was terrified of being rejected by those who knew the truth, which is one reason he was so devastated when Bianca died, as she was the only person at the time who he felt accepted him for who he was. Things were only made more complicated by the fact that he blamed Percy, whom Nico had a serious crush on, for Bianca's death, which made his romantic feelings that much more complicated. It was only after Reyna's acceptance of him and overtures from Will Solace that Nico finally grew comfortable enough to willingly admit that he was gay and he has made great strides since then to accept this part of who he is.

Because of the lose of his mother and sister, Nico is very protective of those who cares about who are still in his life, particularly his half-sister, Hazel. He is willing to go to great lengths to protect them and can be secretive, manipulative, and ruthless when called for, making him one of the more dangerous demigods. However, he also can show great bravery and boldness, as happened during the battles against Kronos and again against Gaia.

Powers/Abilities/Talents:

Like all demigods, Nico has supernatural battle reflexes. He also has a number of powers due to being the son of Hades:

• Levitating rocks, opening fissures, and causing tremors


• Controlling the dead and monsters native to Hades


• Summoning bones to rise from the ground


• Going into a death trance by eating pomegranate seeds


• Traveling using shadows (going a long distance will exhaust him)


• Causing the temperature of the air around him to drop below freezing and plants to wither when enraged


• Entering others' dreams and using astral projection


• Inducing paralyzing fear in his enemies, as his aura seems to radiate death

Just so everyone knows, a fissure may have opened up behind my house. So please don't fall in it. There may also be the occasional skeleton that crawls out of the fissure. If you see one, let me know and I can take care of it.

Other than that, I guess there's not much to report right now. Other than to remind people that I don't in fact remember meeting any of you before a few days ago. I am aware that apparently I was here before then but again, I don't remember any of it. So if I don't know your name, please don't mad at me. Bad things happen when you do that. Like fissures.
